Why Metal?

If the idea of metal design items in your house is making your eyes roll over, think again. Metal pieces are usually bold, statement pieces.

They are contemporary, modern, stylish, easy to combine with other materials and textures. Depending on the finish, metal items can have a luxury appeal, or they can look raw, rustic, and cool.

You would be surprised to see how many unexpected and unique ways metal designs can be used to style your home. Any piece of decoration that you can imagine can be created from metal.

Minimal artsy sculptures, pots, ornaments, wall pieces, the options are endless. You can choose between several different material options, such as brass, copper, silver, gold, iron, bronze, or go for a mixture of some of them.

Metal Decorations

If you feel like your home needs a bit of improvement, refreshment, but you are not really into painting or refurbishing, try to spice things up with some details.

Because it is so unexpected, metal is the ideal element that can change the attitude of an interior. Check out our list of some of the most popular metal elements that will restyle your house.

1. Geometric Wall Art

Iron-made geometrical head of a deer, elephant, or even pineapple is a great centerpiece for any wall. Thanks to the geometric and edgy design, these pieces stand out, they are contemporary and can be in any size, but usually, they are around 20 inches tall. Putting the head or horns of a dead animal on your wall is not cool, but metal ones are.

2. Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Every house has at least one large mirror, and they are usually just that. A large piece of glass with a thin frame. However, a mirror can be much more.

If you are looking for an elegant piece that is functional and aesthetically pleasing, look for sunburst wall mirrors. In the center of it is the main mirror, while several smaller ones are spread over the metal sunrays.

3. Minimalist Shelves

Small shelves can bring back to life any dull, plain wall, and these metal ones are so simple that if you are into DIY projects, you can make them yourself.

All you need is a wooden base for the shelf and thick metal wire that will create the frame or the contours of the shelf. Put on some books, plants, or candles, and you have got one stylish looking wall.

4. Writing’s on the Wall

Do you have a favorite quote or an important message to yourself? You want to turn your name or family initials into a personalized piece of decor? Or you are into classics such as “love,” “home”?

Forget about chunky wooden letters, because the metal ones are now trending. They can either be rusty-looking or polished and glossy, depending on your preference. You can place them on your walls, fireplace, shelves, or even outside on the door.

5. Reinventing

Here is another small project for DIY lovers, use your old cheese grinder, the more marks and scratches it has, the better. Glue it on a piece of wood, perhaps on an old rectangle cheese plate, and insert some fake flowers inside, it will be a great quirky piece for your kitchen. If you prefer real flowers, add a plastic bag or box inside, secure it, put a bit of soil, and start planting.

6. Metal Wreath

Wreaths are usually used around Christmas time, we place them on our doors or inside of the house, but if they are made from natural plants, they do not last long. Fake ones can be so bad and cheap-looking, so for this season, try something new that can be used over the entire year. Metal leaf wreaths are so charming, they have that rustic and industrial vibe, and they will last.

7. Metal Gear

If you have some leftovers from different vehicles in your garage, such as toothed wheel gears, it is finally the time to use them. You do not have to clean the rust from them, just secure them on an old wooden board base, and arrange two or three of them on your wall. You will be surprised how well they look, and how will they give some character to the room.

Say Yes to the Metal Madness

We hope that some of our recommendations were inspiring. Since these items are trending right now, you should easily find these pieces in some of the home decor stores in your town. However, if you are creative, you can easily make your own customized decorations from old metal pieces that you already have and turn it into a fun activity for the entire family.
