People like to make their living space as cozy as possible. Sure, your bedroom is the one place where you relax at night but it’s the living room that allows you to relieve all the stress after a hard working day.
We bring you a couple of wonderful DIY wall hanging ideas, some of which are pretty easy to make. Take this as a weekend project, so get out all your art supplies and involve the kids. Let’s toss around some ideas:
Different sized picture frames?
No.
How about calligraphy?
No.
What if you used some paper cutouts to create a colorful curtain?
Definitely no! Overtime, dust will settle in and it will become quite difficult to clean the cutouts.
Ooh, we know — how about joining some canvases and covering it with handprints?
It’s too childish, right?
Ok, we understand. You are looking for something unique that will not just make for a great décor but will also change the appearance of your living room. Don’t worry, we got you.
Following are six DIY wall hanging ideas that you will find completely refreshing:
1. Macramé Wall Hanging
Yes, yes, we know… DIY macramé wall hanging is not that easy but here is a link to a website that will help you learn the 3 basic knots.
With that, you can easily make this wall hanging. It lends the room a spacious feel and makes the place cozier. To create an eye catching corner, hang some potted plants by the window and the macramé wall hanging on the adjacent wall.
2. Dyed Wooden Sticks Wall Hanging
This DIY wall hanging idea is pretty amazing, if we so say ourselves. It requires you to get a little down and dirty. The first step is to scavenge for wooden stick and bring them home. Shave the bottom half of these sticks and shape them using a knife. You will need to put in a little extra effort here.
Draw a heart on a piece of paper and then place the stick on it. Keep shaving until you achieve the right shape. Now dip the sticks in different shades of paint and let them dry. Tie a string around each and hang it from a long wooden stick. There you go… a DIY wooden heart.
3. Green Twig Triangle
This is one of the easiest DIY wall hanging ideas. All you need is a couple of twigs, light jute rope and some faux greenery and flowers. This wall hanging makes quite the display over an empty cupboard or on the wall against the sofa.
Position the twigs in the shape of a triangle and tie the three corners using the rope. Create a bouquet with greenery and flowers, and tie them with a string. Now, tie this bouquet to the horizontal line and you are done.
You can mix things up a little and make a 3-piece display with the middle wall hanging having the bouquet on the horizontal line and the two side wall hangings having the bouquet on the horizontal and sloping line.
4. Totes Tassels
Raise your hand if you love tassels. This is one of our favorite displays because it allows you to be as colorful as your want.
All this DIY wall hanging requires is a wooden stick and tassels. You can either create knots and arrange different colored tassels in a line or you can create a small curtain and embellish it with some small flowers.
5. Round Floral Wreath
This floral wreath presents a regal look. You can hang it in the living room and in your bedroom. This option requires three items: a thick steel wire, cotton rope and art flowers. Bend the wire into a circular form and tie to ends with the rope.
Now tie the cotton rope on the bottom half of the circle. Lastly, glue a couple of flowers and greenery on the circle. Hang the circle from a nail.
6. Moving Pendulum Shelves
The moving pendulum shelves are made from wood planks. Yeah, you heard it right. These shelves are super easy to make and a pack of 12 planks cost you only $15. Here’s what you need to do:
Drill a hole in each corner of the plank. Thread one end of the rope through the front right and the other end of the rope through the front left. Make a knot, so that the rope doesn’t fall out. Do the same, with the back holes. When you will stretch the ropes and suspend the shelf, a triangle will form. Hang the shelf from a nail. A great thing about this item is that you can remove it and hang it anywhere.
And that’s it with our DIY wall hanging ideas. They might seem a little daunting to you, especially the woven wall hanging but once you start, you will realize that the fun makes it all worth it. If you are looking for more DIY decor ideas, then visit Epic Home Ideas.
