Lighting Trends For The Inside Of Your Home

1) Bedroom Lights

There are notable trends for bedroom lights. First, is the vintage lamp bases on his and her side of the bed. The vintage lamps serve as reading lights. This style is one notable trend in the interior design and hence it is not a surprise that it extends to lighting as well.

Next is the industrial floor lamp. Take note though that the style is all modern industrial lighting not the usual traditional industrial. So there are some notable differences between the two. More often than not the floor lamp is placed in the bedroom next to a reading chair or a seat that is usually in use.

Last is matching lamps with the shades of the wall or wallpaper. This trend works best with colors that are dark and rich. Most of the samples you will see online will show this color palette. Coordinating your lamps with the shades of the wall and also with the pillow bedding gives your bedroom a uniform look.

2) Bathroom Lights

Modern bathrooms are now multi-operational areas. They quickly switch from functional to becoming a calming retreat at any given time in a day. Hence bathroom lighting should never go into neglect.

Consider this for the following trends to achieve the best light fixtures for the bathroom.

Start with flanking your mirror on both sides with ceiling lights vertically; they are the best lights for grooming and beautification tasks. Avoid putting it above the mirror as they create shadows and lines across the face when you shave or put on your makeup.

Then model your bathroom with natural light or daylight as this shows off the true colors of your face, hair, clothes, and makeup. So get lighting fixtures that have white shades.

3) Living Room and Kitchen

Retro has nudged itself into the 2018 trend for lighting. The Vintage Edison inspired light bulbs (shown above) is part of the retro light trends with a lot of homeowners. They are welcoming the nostalgic style and design that comes with these fixtures.

A rounded or circular cone shape ensures that the bulb gives out a homey ambiance which works best for the kitchen and living areas. An advantage is that these Edison-style lamps are available in LED lighting which you can easily order online through modern lighting companies.

4) Study And Home Office

Soft gold and LED light are trends in lighting in home offices. They work best for the study area and the home workspace. Both of these spaces are areas that homeowners work and concentrate on things. The soft matte finish of gold brings out warmth and mellowness. Also, it can blend with ease through any decor may it be urban, modern or even farmhouse. How to use would be a soft gold reading lamp which gives illumination on a reading chair, a desk or pointed across a bookshelf.

Trending Outdoor Light Ideas

The trend for outside of the home like the garden, pathways, and patios would differ a little from the inside of the house. Below we take a look at the four trends that make the outside look stunning both day and night.

1) Solar Lights:

It is not a wonder that this is one of the trends for outdoor lighting. They are generally in use to light up the pathways or give focus to garden fixtures like bird baths, statuettes, or a beautiful big tree on the garden.

The stunning solar flood light is one idea. These high-intensity lights come with halogen bulbs. They add floodlights to your outdoor space and come with motion sensors which the optimizes the safety of your home.

2) Bigger Lights:

Right now homeowners are becoming fans of more prominent lighting fixtures. All they want is to get attention by creating that “Wow” factor quickly. They are more than lighting when placed outside the house; these fixtures even become centerpieces. Some of which comes in elaborate designs that make them the focal piece of the space. Large pendant lighting or lamps are best placed on patios or the footpaths.

The use of larger light fixtures needs a lot of care. Adding to better results will be placing them in central areas where it can create a maximum effect. After which balance it with smaller fixtures to give it a nice look.

3) LED lights:

Regular Incandescent light bulbs are a waste of money. The wasted power is in the release of heat coming from this type of bulbs. Hence, more and more people are becoming aware of green forms of light fixtures. A lot of homeowners are now switching to LED lights. It would work well for the outdoors or the garden as such would minimize the cost for the homeowner.

LED lights may be pricey, but the savings you get along the way plus the added value of the home is something to look forward to the long term. Lastly LED lighting options are not limited they come in a wide variety of styles and designs.

4) Hanging lanterns:

Last on the list but this trend seems to be trending in every season or change. Such lighting fixtures work well in the outdoors. They seem to be often used to create that romantic ambient lighting which gives out good vibes and a feeling of comfort.

The trends are listed but do not be pressured to choose just one style. A lighting design that works best will be the one which you will come to love. The trends above are to give you the idea of what can work well with your house this year.
