Written By Glenn Prescot

Your kid’s bedroom is the area to expand his/her imagination and expression. The bedroom of your child reflects the value that we give for his/her freedom to express creativity and to develop a healthy personality. We make the choices regarding interior design and decoration of our child’s personal space in order to offer him/her a cheerful and protected environment. But don’t forget that kids are tough judges, so we need to make careful decisions.

Below we are listing a few small but useful tips for combining style, practicality, and safety for our kid’s bedroom.

Focus mainly on two important elements though: The mattress and proper lighting, making sure they are both excellent quality since they directly affect our child’s proper development. Moreover, have a look also at some other small tips below:

Flooring

A very good choice for flooring material in the children’s room is wood as it is pleasant to the foot and easy to clean. Alternatively, you could choose linoleum flooring, which offers a wide variety of colors, does not slip, while being very economical.

Kid’s corner in the bedroom

Reserve a personal corner in the bedroom for your child so he/she can decorate any way they want, to hide things in it, or to create his/her own story. Even in a very small house, you can find a small recess where your child will create with imagination and absolute freedom.

Kid’s bedroom colors

Think outside the box. Get away from the stereotypical clichés in color combinations for children’s rooms which dictate blue for boys and pink for girls. There are infinite color shades that can synthesize a charming décor, and of course children have their own opinions and their own character. Because we all know the power and influence of color on the psychology of humans, you should take into consideration the likes and preferences of your child before making your final color choice.

Simplicity

Let’s keep in mind that a happy child’s room does not necessarily mean a pied room. Do not exaggerate then loading it with children’s figures and heroes of fairy tales, vibrant colors, patterned wallpapers and brindled fabrics. It would be nice to move to simple and minimalist lines both in the design of furniture and the rest of the décor as well. Besides, do not forget that the room’s decoration will be inevitably enriched with his/her own toys.

Make it easy for them to express their art skills

If you do not want to see your shiny and expensive set of furniture converted into a painting canvas from your kids, incorporate a drawing board in your kid’s room where they can draw freely whatever they want.

Kids sometime will grow up

Finally, it would be very unwise to think that children will always stay children. This means there is no need to spend a fortune for your kid’s bedroom where the child itself will seek to intervene and make its own changes. There are many economical solutions for decorating and designing your kid’s bedroom with an excellent aesthetic result.
