5 Ways To Make Your Mattress & Bedroom Cozy for Healthier Night Snooze

Written By Glenn Prescot

Have you ever slept on a fluffy hotel mattress? Well, if you have, then I’m sure that you love that particular feeling. I just adore the luxurious sheets and the extra pillows which always smell fresh.

I know it may sound childish, but they make me feel like a spoiled superstar! But it’s evident that you can’t compare a hotel bed to the one at home. Still, I have always wondered: “What if there are actions we could take and things we could do or invest in to turn our bed from home into the perfect sleep bunk?”

So, after carefully having read different mattress reviews, I’ve realized that we can upgrade our beds, we can make them look and feel like the ones from high-class hotels.

The cozy feeling that I love so much is not difficult to achieve, after all! Some of the things we can do are simple tricks (such as using one specific color for the bedding), while others are long-term investments in our sleep quality and a healthy lifestyle.

Here are only a few ways in which you can change your bed at home and make it feel as if you’re sinking into a cloud, night after night:

Table of Contents

  • Only Use White Linens
  • Look For the Highest Thread Count
  • Avoid Using Fitted Sheets
  • Use a Cotton Duvet with a Down Comforter
  • Sleeping On a Quality Mattress

Only Use White Linens

I learned that using white linens confers a warm, pleasant feeling of cleanliness and novelty to the bedroom. It also creates an interesting effect, leading anyone who sees the room into believing that you’ve just renovated the place.

Nobody will even imagine that you’ve only changed the linens on the bed! What’s more important, the white bedding will make you feel like a VIP guest in your house.

Look For the Highest Thread Count

One of the main reasons for which I like sleeping in fancy hotel beds is the softness of their mattresses. Undoubtedly, most of those beds are quite expensive, and you may not afford to buy such a product. But here’s what you should know: you can still make your home bed grant you the same soft and comfy sensation by ensuring that you have a higher thread count.

Keep in mind that a high number of luxury sheets are made from Egyptian cotton. I was amazed to find out that they have a thread count of 300 or even more. Therefore, if you want to sleep like the Pharaohs, don’t ‘spare’ your thread count! Plus, they are excellent products, which is why you can consider them an everlasting investment.

Avoid Using Fitted Sheets

In my travels, I’ve also noticed that most hotel beds do not use fitted sheets, which are mostly elastic. Instead, many of them use oversized flat sheets to create one of the smoothest sleeping surfaces. Using the same method for your home bed will transform it into a soothing and relaxing surface.

I usually fall asleep quickly if I’m lying on a smooth surface. I’d like to emphasize that this is one of the most welcoming features of any bed, and it determines how fast you’ll plunge into the world of dreams. So, if you’re still using fitted sheets, better remove them and spread flat sheets. I’m pretty sure that you’ll love the feeling that you’ll get after such a change.

Use a Cotton Duvet with a Down Comforter

One of the hardest things that you’ll have to do is stuffing your duvet. However, once you’re through, you’ll only be asking yourself one question, “How have I ever slept without it?”

Choose a comfortable and heavy comforter. However, if you’re allergic to certain substances, you’ll need to make sure that the chemicals in the product won’t harm you. Just read the description carefully or ask the retailer about this. If you’re shopping online, there’s a high chance that you’ll get your answer on the spot!

Most of the hotels that I’ve visited use breathable duvets made from cotton to keep your body fresh throughout the night. Furthermore, the best brands will take things a step further and add a few inches on either side just to make it extra fluffy!

Sleeping On a Quality Mattress

Picking the right mattress is one of the crucial actions you need to take on the road to making your sleeping place a perfect ‘bed of roses.’ You have to choose the one which correctly supports your sore muscle regions such as the neck, shoulders, and back.

Luckily, we have access to a rich variety of mattresses nowadays, each coming with its unique features and offering many health advantages.

Many hotels use custom mattresses which their manufacturers design and create for them. You probably won’t have the same opportunity when it comes to your home bed. Therefore, you need to invest in a quality, durable mattress that will make a massive difference once you go to sleep.

By following these tips and tricks, you’ll quickly turn your bedroom into ‘a sleep palace.’ I’ve carefully put them together to help those who have sleeping problems. So, make the right changes and enjoy many nights of heavenly rest!
