Don’t shy away from vibrant colours

The cold and contemporary look of the past few years is slowly fading away, much like the colour palette it used. People aren’t interested in greys and shades of black anymore, they want vibrant colours on their patio and in their dream garden.

You might be wondering how to make your yard’s colours pop without it looking tacky and tasteless. Luckily, nature can come to your assistance.

It’s hard to plant a tree or bush that won’t look naturally gorgeous on its own, which is why you should start with that. Some light coloured vines like wisterias could be the ideal choice for your garden walls.

Make your way to some more daring colours when you see what goes well with the first plants you grew. Once you’ve filled your garden with beautiful and complementary plants, you can move onto your patio.

The paint job has to be pristine. You will want to pick a colour that goes nicely with your well-maintained lawn. Go wild on the hues and you’ll be happy with the results.

Focus on illumination

Throughout the day, the sun’s rays will give you all the light you need to enjoy the beauty of your garden and yard. However, you might want to enjoy the view even after the sun goes down. It can get pretty dark if you don’t have any artificial lights in your yard. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to read a good book in your yard at nine PM.

There are tons of interesting garden lights to choose from. If you’re aiming for an old-timey vibe, an oil lantern might just be up your alley. Some people even use candles to illuminate their patios when it gets dark.

Most modern solutions involve LED lights. They’re a bit more expensive than regular incandescent light bulbs, but they make up for it in longevity.

They also spend a lot less electricity than regular bulbs. Aim for something that will light up your garden while not affecting your view of the sky. Something that aims downwards or sideways would be an ideal choice.

Keep it cool with water features

Sometimes you want to cool down with some water without having to endure an uncomfortable day in the rain. Luckily, technology has your back. You don’t have to get drenched in a storm to stay cool on a warm summer day.

Water vaporizers are very convenient machines that provide the utmost comfort for any outdoor area. You might have seen one or two at any local restaurant. They’re the little spinning contraptions that spread tiny water droplets. They aren’t particularly expensive and they’re pretty easy to set up, even for a layman that has no experience with electronics.

Get comfortable with seating

If your garden isn’t used for comfort, what good is it? A lot of people get seating that is clunky and uncomfortable because it looks like traditional garden seating. You should go against the trend and pick out something that is particularly comfortable. There’s no reason you should deny yourself such a luxury in your own backyard oasis.

Armchairs are becoming extremely popular additions to modern patios. They offer you the comfort of a sofa with the convenience of a large chair. Speaking of sofas, why not add one to your list of comfortable patio additions. Make sure they’re made of materials that are easy to clean because you can expect a lot of dust to settle on top of them.

Shade, shade, and more shade

Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy the nice weather and sunlight, but the sun can go a bit overboard at times. Certain parts of the day are unbearable due to excruciating heat, which is why you have to take measures to keep it at bay.

Parasols are a useful way to create a small patch of shade to rest in. They are great if you want to enjoy a good book on your yard’s lawn chair.

If you want something to keep your patio from being scorched by the harsh rays of the sun, a pergola might be more apt.

Pergolas come in many shapes and sizes and some are even adjustable! Picking the right one for your home can be a bit tricky.

The experts at Aspect Shade get a lot of questions regarding how to install a pergola and where to put it exactly. Not everyone is naturally up-to-date with the latest pergola yard aesthetics, which is why getting a bit of help might be necessary.

Water gives life to your yard

Adding a bit of moving water could be the perfect finishing touch for your comfortable oasis. Fountains and ponds are quaint additions to any kind of outdoor space.

Fountains might seem like a very expensive detail, but they’re far from it. All you need is a water hose, a small pump, and a place to put your water fountain. Anything else depends on your creativity and budget. Even a small water pump can give you surprisingly dynamic results.

Ponds are similar in this regard. You dig a hole in the ground and let your artistic expression go wild. You can make just about anything as long as you pick out the right rocks. Think of your yard as a canvas where the ponds and fountains are important details in your artistic vision.

Conclusion

If you’re looking to make your garden look fresh and interesting, all you need is a bit of dedication and some creativity. Ideas can range from practical solutions for summer problems to luxuries that are just there to make you feel like a million bucks. Either way, you should take the plunge and create a garden that will be your own personal oasis.
