Table of Contents

  • Clean and Replace the Gutters
  • Add or Upgrade Shutters
  • Repair and Repaint Your Doors
  • Get a New Coat of Paint
  • Repair or Replace the Roof
  • Fix the Driveway
  • Work on the Landscaping

Clean and Replace the Gutters

You can start this endeavor by cleaning out your gutters and drains. Get some ladders and gloves and take out any debris that has accumulated in the gutters.

If you notice any leaks, see whether you can fix them yourself. On the other hand, you can also choose to completely replace your gutters and get some copper ones which is bound to make your home stand out. Make sure you’re careful, though, especially is your home is of the taller variety.

Add or Upgrade Shutters

In case your home does not have shutters, investing in this addition will completely transform your curb appeal. Visit a nearby home improvement store or look online and you are sure to find something that suits your taste and aesthetics. However, if you already have shutters, you can give them a new look by changing their color, for instance.

Repair and Repaint Your Doors

One of the central parts of your home’s exterior is the front doors. That is why you have to ensure they are not damaged, jammed or have any other issues.

If there are any repairs that need to be done, you should call in the pros, such as those from Safezone Locksmiths, as they can easily make any adjustment your doors need.

Furthermore, you can repaint your entrance door. The great thing here is that your choices are practically endless. You can go for soft colors like baby blue or bubblegum pink or you can go for something darker and classier like deep red or navy blue. While you’re at it, you can also replace your lock.

Get a New Coat of Paint

Probably the first thing that comes to mind is repainting the exterior. It can be quite a simple and inexpensive way to boost the curb appeal of your home. When choosing the color, you need to decide whether you want to fit in with the rest of the neighborhood or if you want to stand out.

Once you make your choice, you should create a color palette you will be working with. You can have one color for the trim and another one for the rest of the home, for example.

Repair or Replace the Roof

If there are any broken or missing shingles, you should replace them. This is not necessary just for a nice exterior but it also helps prevent any leaks and water damage.

If you have the budget and think it’s time for a new one, you can also replace your entire roof. There are now so many different kinds that you might have a hard time choosing. This is something best left to the professional, though.

Fix the Driveway

Check your pathways and driveway for any holes or cracks. If you notice something that is affecting the overall look of your exterior, you should fix it. You can usually do this on your own, just look online for some instructions. Plus, you can even take it a step further by getting some color in there as well.

Work on the Landscaping

Landscaping is something you cannot neglect. Make sure to trim all trees and bushes to get an unobstructed view of the home if you want to show it off. Moreover, mow your lawn regularly and get some colorful plants that will bring that classic look to your home.

In addition to these seven tips, there are so many other things you can do. From upgrading your mailbox and replacing your house number to getting new lighting fixtures, your options are practically limitless. Look for some inspiration, get creative and your exterior will look new in no time.
