1. The Garage Door Operator Won’t Work

This is probably the most common of the problems that cause the garage door failure. What’s more interesting is that many people hire garage door repair services in King of Prussia PA just for having them plug back the cord that releases the power, which makes the operator functioning again.

The power cord gets disconnected unconditionally while entering and exiting the door. In case you’ve plugged back the cord and the operator isn’t functioning, it is most probable that the fuse has blown out, and would need a replacement.

2. Transmitter Issue

Another common reason why garage doors don’t function is that your remote transmitter might be out of power.

Since door activation is operated from both ends, you need to keep checking the transmitter’s batteries. However, no need to stress about it because you can easily replace the batteries and get it up and going again.

3.  Cable Snapping

Another issue that can cause your garage door to break down is the snapping of the cables. Alongside the torsion springs, the cables are responsible for enabling the doors to be raised with alignment.

The snapping of the cables is even more dangerous and daunting since it requires complete cable replacement. The cable snapping is also dangerous because they are the ones that prevent the garage door slamming down on the ground. Moreover, if this happens, then the entire door would sustain heavy damage too.

4. Sensitivity Adjustment

Most of the doors come with sensitivity adjustment that enables the door to be opened and closed properly. In case you are experiencing that your garage door gets stuck in the middle of opening or closing, then it is highly possible that the sensitivity needs to be adjusted.

You can either do it yourself; however, calling an expert for it is a much better option. This also occurs due to faulty inputs and parts that have been added during the installation phase of the garage door.

5. Limit Setting &Adjustment

Another malfunctioning that can arise within the garage doors is maladjustment of the door limit adjustment. Wrong settings may cause the garage door to open and close improperly.

In addition, this also stops the door from touching to the ground completely, leaving a space below. Although it is not a big issue, still, you better call a professional for it.

6. Misalignment

Misalignment occurs when the metal tracks that are installed to keep the door aligned, get worn out due to passage of time and constant pressure that exerts on them. This causes irregular movement and puts the strain on the rest of the components too.

7. Your Remote Is Blocked

Not entirely, but it is possible that when you are constantly pressing your remote buttons and it is still unable to open the garage door, its signal is blocked.

The antenna can be out of range or the signal catcher has been damaged. Since you are not savvy with repairing antennas or remotes, you might need to hire a professional to help you with it.

8. Obstruction

There might be some tiny obstacle such as foliage, paper or used gum that causes the photo beam to retract the door. Though it is a minor issue, if you still can’t find the obstacle, then its time to call a professional for it.

9. Motor Issue

Sometimes the motor can either be faulty or become deactivated, which causes the door to malfunction. If it is disconnected then you can easily reactivate it by connecting the cord. However, if it’s faulty, then you might need a replacement.

10. Broken Torsion Or Springs

This is something that would require you to hire a professional garage door repair service in King of Prussia PA. You might observe that the garage door doesn’t open, even when the motor is running.

This is because the torsion springs of the garage door have broken down. For every garaged door, there are two torsion springs that run with the width of the door.

These are operated with tow extension springs that enable the springs to lift and lower down the door along the track. The tension in the springs, which causes them to break, is usually because of the wearing that occurs because of the coils. Hence, it is something that you cannot fix on your own, and you need a professional to help you with it.
