What was once a highly regarded, beloved, and glamorous style of plain white walls paired with vintage hardware and metals, has begun to feel less chic by the minute, and more like a lack of style and design effort for making your home a space about you.
It’s the year 2019 and this time around, it’s about designs that stand out and leave an impression. Capturing your identity in your home just brings you one step closer to a well-rounded and comforting space where you can relax and be yourself.
We’ve found that an effective and easier way to encompass your dream designs without purchasing all new furniture is, you guessed it, wallpaper.
Borrowing from some of our bold and statement wallpaper brands such as Cole and Son Wallpaper and Designers Guild Wallpaper, you can easily add a touch, or a splash of just about any type of personality or personal touch to your space with their ever growing and expansive selections of artful and statement wallpapers.
We’ll show some of our favorite examples of wallpaper and wallcovering that we think are good starter points for getting creative and finding something that fits you.
The zen and relaxing color scheme is favored often by many who lead busy lives full of work, the reason for the choice is obvious.
When you’re at home, you want to unwind and relax, choosing a wallpaper with light blue hues, warm grays, and other cooler neutrals can add to the peacefulness of your space.
On the top you have the Cole & Son print ‘Flamingos’ that has a playfulness in the print that doesn’t feel like it sacrifices sophistication.
On the more minimal side we have the Designers Guild print ‘Arlecchino’ that uses geometric repetition of diamonds with a vintage distressed effect to break up the bold shapes. The mixture of cool colors in the pattern keep it relaxing, while the pattern leaves a statement.
Another popular aspect that individuals frequently like to incorporate to their home is the love of nature and the outdoors. It’s commonly said that nature brings us closer to the earth and ourselves, so it’s only natural that the next step is bringing the raw beauty of nature indoors.
On the top we have Cole & Son’s Royal Fernery which depicts lush jungle foliage, dense and beautiful with the deep emerald and cerulean tones.
On the bottom image we have Designers Guild’s Brahmi wallpaper depicting lily pads atop a white background. The detailing within the lily pads adds dimension and interest to the space, and a sense of tranquility.
Often, designers incorporate bright and lively colors to inflict inspiration and happiness. It’s been proven that your surroundings appearance can heavily effect your mindset and overall mood.
That’s why bringing in bright and exuberant jewel tones is an excellent way to create a setting that supports creativity and helps with work ethic when completing tasks from home. On the top we have Cole & Son’s circus wall panel, using overlapping and cascading large scale diamonds, this kaleidoscope like print is everything.
Paired with neutral furniture, it breathes fun into any room in a sophisticated way. For those not quite ready for the mass amount of colors, Zardozi from Designers Guild on the second image is a hexagonal repeat that has threadlike details in between this honeycomb shape. The golden color is uplifting and inspires a feel good attitude that fits any home.
This just about covers it for our bold and statement wallpapers for the home. If you’re looking to try something a little different, you can also paper-back a fabric for your walls to add texture and dimension, our Kravet fabric selection has excellent choices for this as well. Until next time!
