A nursery is a space where you and your little one will spend most of your time therefore it has to be a color catering to the needs of you and your kid as well.

A color that is soothing, calming, and most importantly versatile. Of course, it doesn’t mean that you cannot add bold color touches, but it has to be a color that will stay and evolve with time, so you don’t have to change it frequently when the child grows.

In this article we have selected some paint colors that will make your baby’s nursery look welcoming as well as stylish.

Tips to consider before buying nursery paint colors :

Before we move on, we need to keep a few points in mind while selecting a paint shade for the nursery.

  • Research states that muted shades or highly saturated bright colors are better perceived by infants therefore it is advisable to use soft pastels, earthy neutrals and hues which are not too dark.
  • The paint colors should be enduring, a color that can appeal any age.
  • Safety is a priority here, so it is important to buy paints that are of low VOC or no VOC. Paints that contain VOC emitting into the air, can be harmful for the baby. Water based paints are much safer here as they have zero Volatile Organic Compounds.
  • Many paint colors reflect lots of light. When choosing nursery paint color, look out for the LRV (light reflective value). The lighter the paint shade, means higher LRV which can cause a glare to the baby and be bothersome. Many paints have LRV written on its label. Opt for ones which are 60 or lower than that.
  • A nursery is bound to get dirty most of the time so the right finish is really important here. A matte finish can be too flat and difficult to maintain and a gloss can be really reflective. Eggshell is highly recommended here, for its low sheen, soft finish and high stain resistance factor.

Let’s now see some great color options for your home’s nursery room:
